Ethiopia - Orphanage in Addis Ababa

The house and its inhabitants

Since 2017, Solomon has been taking children in need off the streets of Addis Ababa. The children are orphans, half-orphans or come from very poor families who are not able to feed them. Solomon and his team are very innovative and always have new ideas on how to get the children through without regular donations. For example, they have their own sales stands and sell, among other things, self-made finger food.

The spacious house is in the middle of the city. More than 40 girls and boys between the ages of 1 and 17 now live in the facility. The children are lovingly cared for by several adults.

There are several bedrooms, a kitchen, a lounge, an office and several showers and toilets.

For a country like Ethiopia, this is already a high standard. However, the inner courtyard offers little space for playing.

Here's how you can help

Accompany the children throughout the day and get involved with active support. In the morning you can help the little ones wash and dress. After school you canhelp with homework and play, sing or do gymnastics with the children. Help in the kitchen, cleaning, renovating or helping at one of the sales stands  can be additional tasks. You can coordinate this on site according to your own ideas, interests and strengths.

In our projects with children, it is important to us that you contribute with great awareness, responsibility and respect for the local culture.

If you want to bring something for the children, talk to us. We are always in contact with the orphanage and can tell you what is needed at the moment.
